Samsung phones don’t seem to stop getting Google Play System updates

Samsung phones don’t seem to stop getting Google Play System updates

In 2025, when Samsung smartphones and tablets didn’t get a Google Play System update for four months, their users heavily criticised Samsung and Google for it. It seems the two companies took those complaints very seriously, as Galaxy phones have received so many Google Play System updates since then that we've lost count. Now, they are getting yet another one.

The latest Google Play System update for the Galaxy smartphones is 1.4MB in size. It is available for at least devices running on One UI 8.5 and One UI 9.0. Since Google doesn’t provide a changelog for these updates, it's hard to tell what changes they bring. Usually, the pack includes bug fixes, performance improvements, security enhancements, and new features for Google apps/services.

To get the update, go to Settings > Security and privacy > Updates > Google Play System update. Once the phone shows you the update, tap on Download and install to get it. Once the device installs the update, it will ask you to restart the device. Tap on Restart now to complete the process.

Speaking of updates for Galaxy smartphones, Samsung is also rolling out the June 2026 security patch to these devices, which fixes 45 security issues. You can check its availability and get it by going to Settings > Software update > Check for updates/Download and install.
